What Comes Next

The War is Over. We Won.

The war is over, but This Means War has a ways to go. Novo Paolo/Bubbleopolis is still in a nebula/stellar nursery, no one knows what happened to the planet Sharen (center of the Intergalactic Council), and the status of the now-surrendered Invaders is yet to be resolved. What will they do when they learn their homeworld is basically destroyed? Will Alyss and Li be re-united? How about Diana (the real one) and Otto?

These questions will be resolved in the next few weeks, before This Means War part 3 wraps in late May.

After that, I plan to go BACK in time about 400 years, to when Alyss and Li left their home in the Sol System to colonize a new world on the far side of the galaxy. As one might expect, hijinks ensue. New subtitle yet to be determined, start date sometime in around the start of July. Stay tuned!

The Transcript For This Page

Panel 1
First meeting of the Water Brothers Crew – assembled in the day room at King's Court. We see Bert and Ernie standing and facing the 23 youths, who are standing with their backs to us.
Bert: Welcome Space Scouts! I'm Bert Guzmán and this is my brother Ernie.
Bert: I think you all know about our adventure on Ida.
Bert: The Space Scouts saved our lives and we decided to pay it forward by sponsoring the Water Brothers Crew.
Panel 2
Reverse view, we see the backs of Bert and Ernie's heads, and the assembled Scouts, most of them looking up at the Bros with respect, but we can see Jim in the back, smoldering with resentment.
Bert: We will be your Mentors. We really appreciate how many of you volunteered your free time to be with us tonight.
Panel 3
Medium shot of Jim, calling out. We can see a few of the kids around him, giving him sideways glances.
Jim: I didn't volunteer.
Jim: I was forced to join.
Panel 4
Two-shot of Bert and Ernie, Ernie is responding.
Ernie: We know why you're here, Jemal …
Jim (OP): It's Jim.
Ernie: Fine, we all know why you're here, Jim, but nobody here yanked your leash.
Panel 5
Closer shot of Ernie, being a wise-ass.
Ernie (OP): If you don't want to be here, leave. Or as you Pommies say, piss off.

Panel 6
Cut to wider shot of Jim with some of the kids around him, they are looking at him and giggling. Jim is looking angrier.
Ernie (OP): I mean, if you're pissed to be here, there's the door.

Panel 7
Closer shot of Jim, snarling as he speaks, unmistakable hatred in his eyes.
Jim: You know that if I don't stay, I'll be indentured to a pig farm, or worse.

Panel 8
Medium shot of Ernie, we see a few of the kids in the front glancing back in Jim's direction, smiling and chuckling. Ernie is trying to be conciliatory.
Ernie: Fair enough, Jim, but you are a Space Scout now. We'll all work and play hard.
Ernie (thought): Going to have to keep an eye on that boy.
