Quantum Vibe: Venus 23 On Sales Now!

Quantum Vibe: Venus 23, by Scott Bieser with Lea Jean Badelles - front cover

Exciting news boys and girls, the 310 strips of Quantum Vibe: Venus 23 have been collected into a fourth Quantum Vibe volume from Big Head Press and is on sale now from various online retailers.

Venus 23 is the story of life on a small backwater planet, 500 years after the invention of the Murphy Drive. "Zytemonde" is a well managed, orderly, and predictable world where all needs are provided for by powerful android rulers. But life is hardly paradise when managing resources also includes controlling every aspect of everyone's life. And despite best efforts by their android rulers, a slow decay of civil society is beginning to show; with growing black markets, supply shortages, and power outages becoming more common.

Yet, while the rot slowly breaks their world down, an unexpected question begins to be seen, asked on posters littered about the city and spray painted on walls: "Hu Iz Alyss Roaz?" Learn the answer to this question along with young Bolivar Eustace Clark ("Bok") and his friends, as they struggle to survive on a world designed to end all struggle.

Oni-Con XIII October - 28th-30th, 2016 - Galveston , Tx - Annual Japanese Pop Culture & Multi-Genre Fan Expo

Hey kids! As the cold weather creeps in this fall, what better way to make summer last a little longer than to head down to the Texas island of Galveston, October 28 - 30, and enjoy margaritas on the beach while getting to meet (and get an autograph from) your favorite sci-fi comic artist and creator of the slightly mad Quantum Vibe webcomic, Scott Bieser, at Galveston's annual Japanese Pop Culture & Multi-Genre Fan Expo: Oni-Con XIII. Hosted at the Galveston Island Convention Center you're a short walk from the beach. You're margarita won't have time to start melting before you begin imbibing that last little taste of summer.

The Transcript For This Page

Panel 1
Just outside the air skin, 40 km above. The Pale Man is floating a foot away from the skin, and is igniting an acetylene-oxygen torch.

Caption: As Tobi regales his invited guests, the Security System monitors the doings of his uninvited guest, the Pale Man.

Panel 2
Using a suction-cup hand grip to anchor himself to the skin, the Pale Man uses the torch to cut through the air skin. (At this point he's only cut an inch or two.)

Caption: Modern air skins are made up of nano-scale filaments held in place by nanobots.

Caption (2): If a meteor or other object punches a hole in the air skin, the nanobots can regroup, repair the damage and seal the leak.

Panel 3
The Pale man has cut a gash almost three feet wide. We can see a sheet of pressuirzed atmosphere blowing out through the gash now.

Caption: The Little Prince's air skin is more sophisticated. If he wanted to, Tobi could order it to eat the intruder.

Panel 4
The Pale Man is now attempting to push himself through the gash but is having to fight the atmosphere rushing outward.

Caption: But Tobi is curious about what this fellow is up to, so he has ordered the nanobots to stand down for right now.
