Here’s a thought: why not kill him then go do something else?
POSEIDON
No. In death, he’s beyond our reach. I want him to crawl, to beg for our help, to admit that next to us he’s less than nothing.
APOLLO
But he is less than nothing. What’s your point?
HERMES
You’ve looked down on them for too long, Apollo, and from too great a height. They all look the same to you. But look closer, you’ll see what Poseidon sees. He’s something you’ve never ever seen before.
POSEIDON
Hermes, shut up.
APOLLO
(looking hard)
You’re reading too much into him. He looks like any other grubby little maggot to me.
HERMES
Now, yes, but left unbroken? Unbroken, he might be the end of us.
POSEIDON
He doesn’t know it yet, but he’s caught in a current no man escapes alive without my dispensation. He’ll break, just you wait.
