What Comes Next

The War is Over. We Won.

The war is over, but This Means War has a ways to go. Novo Paolo/Bubbleopolis is still in a nebula/stellar nursery, no one knows what happened to the planet Sharen (center of the Intergalactic Council), and the status of the now-surrendered Invaders is yet to be resolved. What will they do when they learn their homeworld is basically destroyed? Will Alyss and Li be re-united? How about Diana (the real one) and Otto?

These questions will be resolved in the next few weeks, before This Means War part 3 wraps in late May.

After that, I plan to go BACK in time about 400 years, to when Alyss and Li left their home in the Sol System to colonize a new world on the far side of the galaxy. As one might expect, hijinks ensue. New subtitle yet to be determined, start date sometime in around the start of July. Stay tuned!

The Transcript For This Page

Strip 35
Panel 1
Larger panel, leave room for EFT logo.
G, F, B and E step from a six-wheeled vehicle (a more elaborate version of Babbette’s golf cart) next to a large airlock-door, flanked by two signs. The left one reads:

King's Court
Adjudication Services

The right-hand side one reads:

Karaoke Church of Universal Faith
(non-denominational)

Bert: Here we are, the King’s Court.

Fiorella: So your King is also your high priest?

Ernie: Only on Saturday nights.

Panel 2
Inside, in an anteroom, they meet Babbette the younger. Only instead of her Agent hat she’s wearing a frilly pink dress with a matching ribbon in her hair.

Guy: Well, well, our cab driver.

Guy (2): So are you related to the Babbette Guzmán at the boarding house?

Babbette: No duh.

Panel 3
Close shot of Babbette, looking a bit contrite as she catches herself.

Babbette: I mean, yes sir, she is my grandmother.

Babbette (2): May I see your business cards, please?

Panel 4
Close two-shot of Guy whispering to Fiorella

Guy: Sneaky little cappy* probably gets a kickback for every one she suckers in.

Caption: * Derogatory word for ‘capitalist.’

Panel 5
Babbette ushering G, F, B and E down a hallway.

Babbette: This way, please.

Panel 6
The group, led by Babbette, stands at the entryway of a large room with a vaulted ceiling, which looks as though it could be a chapel or a courtroom (in fact, it’s both). A walkway proceeds between rows of benches towards an unlit dais.

Babbette: Presenting Special Agents Guy Caillard and Fiorella Stellina, of the United World Revenue Agency, United World, Terra, and His Majesty’s loyal subjects, Robert and Ernesto Guzmán.

Panel 7
Now we’re looking at Babbette standing before an unlit dais. We see one or two of her procession standing at the left. She holds her left arm out towards the dais.

Babbette: Good sirs, His Royal Majesty, Reginald the First, King of Ceres and Protector of the Minor Planets.

Panel 8
Suddenly the dais is lit, and we see King Reginald, who is in fact the Reverend Reggie King. He is wearing a crown that looks like King Arthur’s, and a 19th Century British naval uniform as worn by Sir Joseph Porter from the Gilbert and Sullivan musical 'HMS Pinafore.' Also add some pieces from ancient Spartan costumes (from 'Lysistrata') to make the ensemble look more bizarrely exotic.

No dialog.
