Strip 545 -- First Seen: 2010-10-08
Escape From Terra is updated with new pages every Monday through Friday.
QV on a short break
QUANTUM VIVE is taking a break for a few weeks, as we prepare for Part 2 of the Novo Palermo story, and also for a Kickstarter campaign for Part 1, which will start in September.
In the meantime, Not-Safe.Space will continue, as a murder mystery begins and the relationship between Eithne and Diana develops in unexpected directions.
Not-Safe.Space is a NSFW strip but more than half the pages are SFW so I've set those to *not* require a Patreon membership. Readers should be able to follow the story without seeing the NSFW pages. If I've done this right.
Kickstarter successful and closed
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Thanks to all for supporting this Kickstarter!
The Transcript For This Page
Panel 1
Wally is at the counter in the Water Bros. Cafe, having a meal of beef stew with a roll on the side. Babbette the Elder is standing on one side of him, Emily Rose on the other. Wally has a bandage under his left eye, another on the right side of his forehead, and patch on his nose similar to the one Babbette the Younger had on hers at the end of Fly, Robyn Fly.
Emily: I hope you're not trying to start a fashion fad.
Babbette: What did your parents say when they saw you?
Panel 2
Same shot – now the two women are looking at each other as Wally speaks.
Wally: Haven't been home yet – things are tense enough there as it is.
Panel 3
Vinny joins the trio.
Vinny: Well, I've got bad news and good news.
Babbette: What is it, Vinny?
Panel 4
Looking past Babbette, over Wally's head, past Emily, at Vinny
Vinny: Looks like our Mugger hot-footed it off-world on a tramp freighter.
Vinny: He's out of our reach, so we can't do an arbitration.
Babbette: And the good news?
Panel 5
Medium close-up of Vinny
Vinny: The other merchants agreed with your suggestion that since the mugger has been stopped, even though we can't try him, Wally has done us a service and we should award him half the the original bounty.
Panel 6
Vinny drops five gold coins (each about the size of a quarter) into Wally's open palm. Wally is smiling probably for the first time since his friend Billy was killed.
Vinny: Good work, Sv. Cooper.
Wally: Thank you, Sv. Suprynowicz
Panel 7
Wally holds up one of the coins and gazes at it admiringly, as Emily and Babbette look on.
Wally: Looks like I'm going to have a career after all.
Babbette: A career? As what?
Panel 8
Wally closes his fist over the coin and sets his jaw.
Wally: As a Justice Agent.
