Strip 933 -- First Seen: 2012-04-13
Escape From Terra is updated with new pages every Monday through Friday.

QV on a short break

QUANTUM VIVE is taking a break for a few weeks, as we prepare for Part 2 of the Novo Palermo story, and also for a Kickstarter campaign for Part 1, which will start in September.

In the meantime, Not-Safe.Space will continue, as a murder mystery begins and the relationship between Eithne and Diana develops in unexpected directions.

Not-Safe.Space is a NSFW strip but more than half the pages are SFW so I've set those to *not* require a Patreon membership. Readers should be able to follow the story without seeing the NSFW pages. If I've done this right.

Kickstarter successful and closed

The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.

Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.

(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)

Thanks to all for supporting this Kickstarter!

The Transcript For This Page

Panel 1
Re-establish the scene. All of the rescuers and rescuees plus Arana and Tobi are gathered in Tobi's living room, discussing recent events. Focus is between Tobi and Nowra with Gerald.
Tobi: The guard?
Nowra: See, I got Gerald as an egg, which I incubated in a shoebox. He imprinted on me as his 'mother.'
Nowra: Anyway, I decided to see if I could train Gerald to make certain sounds on verbal command.
Panel 2
Close-up on Gerald, sitting on Nowra's shoulder.
Nowra: So I downloaded and taught Gerald hundreds of sounds, associated with specific key words.

Panel 3
Two-shot of Nowra and Gerald.
Nowra: So, for example, if I say 'dog.'
Gerald: Rarf! Rarf!
Nowra: Or, if I say 'cat'
Gerald: Meow!

Panel 4
Looking past Nowra and Gerald to show most of the group gathered around, looking at the bird appreciatively, many of them clapping their hands.
Nowra: And if I say, 'shotgun.'
Gerald: Krk-CHAK!

Panel 5
Nowra with Neanne looking at him adoringly from one shoulder, Gerald perched on the other, as Nowra waxes triumphant.
Nowra: When I saw Gerald in the room behind Jensen, I worked s-h-o-t-g-u-n into what I was saying.
Nowra: Gerald made the sound, Jensen believed it, and gave up.
Panel 6
Closing scene, group shot, Nowra finishes his story, everyone is smiling and laughing.
Nowra: The funny part is, Jensen knew about Gerald's talent but when he heard that shotgun ...
Gerald: Krk-CHAK!
Nowra: ... being racked, he could think of nothing else.
Nowra: Boy, was he pissed after he figured it out.
